So,
after basically having to strongly hint to mom, I have been tagged.

So without any further ado (what the hell does 'ado' mean anyway?)Am kinda cheating I suppose cause I'm so gonna list the top ten most listened to songs on my iPod. So sue me, you all forgot to tag me anyway!!!
1 - Green Day, Jesus of Suburbia/City of the Damned/I don't care/Dearly Beloved/Tales of another broken home
Ok, so that may well be 5 songs, but it only takes up the number 2 slot on the album American Idiot so I am counting it as one song. And anyway, they all run into each other in a kind of Bohemion Rhapsody way so its only taking one slot on my list! It's bloody great though, I love the bits that the songs change over to the different styles all encapsulated within it and it never fails to make me tap away with my finger. Also, the 9.08 minutes it takes to play is the exact time from me turning it on at the bus stop till I get off at my work - perfection! (oh yeah, and I think they swear a bit in it....)
2 - Muse, Stolkholm Syndrome
Firstly, I cannot believe that as a major Radiohead fan I am only just getting into this fantastic band. A few of you may be surprised but they are really quite a rocky, semi heavy metal kinda band. Guitars are blasing all over the place but then that, unlike a few other rock bands I dont care to mention, does not mean the lead singer cant hold a note. And hold a note the dude can! Also, the lyrics are not all about death and distruction but more about people and relationships. Admittedly they are more along the "what the fuck are you doing to me" kind of vein but they HAVE done a cover of 'Cant take my eyes off you'......
3 - Candi Staton - You got the love
"sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air". It just says it all! A slight change of style (to say the least) from the first couple of choices but without a doubt a fantastic track that easily feels at home as backroud music or on the dance floor. As the last track in the last episode of sex and the city it fitted perfectly and I just love walking around the city centre with it blaring as it actually does uplift me for some reason. only thing that pisses me off is that in my copy it skips back a few bars halfway through but then thats the joys of illegal downloading I suppose!!
4 -Marlena Shaw - California Soul
I have come across this song on two occasions beofre. 1st was when I was thinking of applying to work for yell.com in Glasgow and it was the hold music I had to listen to while waiting to get through to the hR department and then when it was used by KFC on a TV advert! But anyway, it stuck in my head and through the power of said illegal downloading I have been listening to it quite a lot recently. Its just such a fab song! Great to listen to while walking about in the sunshine and its mix of strings and prominent drums always gets me singing along, much to the confusion of the local neds.....
5 - McAlmont & Butler - Yes
For anyone who has ever felt betrayed by a loved one after a breakup (obviously the other persons fault) then this is the song for you. the line "you cant help someone recover after what you did" and "have you forgot whatever it was you couldnt stand about me" AND "I feel well enough to tell you what you can do, with what you got to offer" are just fantastic! Its not an 'Alanis/Avril Latrine/any other female angst singer song writter kinda number though, as there is a very orchestral and lively feel to it with fantastic vocals from David McAlmont. A strangly feel good song for the subject matter! One from the list I would strongly suggest getting a hold of!
6 - The Only Ones - Another Girl Another Planet
This one is a bit of a random I found on a compilation album I bought and very much (to me anyway) has a bit of a late 60's/70's coupled with 90's britpop feel to it. Quite a mish mash! The vocals aint shit hot but convey the feelings behind the words perfectly. The simple background guitars are great and the solo guitar section in the middle is nice too. I cant for some reason manage to put into words why I like this song but since its one of the very few that I have listened too off said album it must be doing sommit right!
7 - Charlotte Church - Crazy Chick
I stand up and proudly say that I love this song! It is unashamedly pure pop tastic piece of music and at the end of the day, the girl can sing. On top of that, even though she has made millions from her career since she was knee high to a grass hopper she is quite blatently common as muck. Tis such a happy song to listen to regardless of what the lyrics are (not that sure I could quote you any!) and even though it most likely aint cool to admit it, I love it. Long live Charlotte!
8 - Tina Turner, Proud Mary
Im a product of my environment, pure and simple. And at the moment, the couple of clubs that have the incredable fortune for me to frequent, seem to play this song every night and I have very much grown to love it. When in the clubs I just cant help but make an arse of myself and dance around like the god that is Tina, hands wailing all over the place and everything! one of her best, even if it aint an origional track for her.
9 - Alanis Morrisette, Hands Clean
I just love this song. Yes is has her trademark fit as many words into a bar of music as possible, yes it is all about angst and dejection as per her classical song writing mandate, but it just sounds so nice! Bugger the meaning, this song puts a smile on my face everytime I listen to it as it is just so bloody well written. thats it really!
and drum roll please.......
10 - Damian Rice, The Blowers Daughter.
If you aint heard this guy yet, I very much urge you to get a copy of his album 'O' as it is just one of the most beautiful collection of songs you could ever hope to hear. This is one of his best in my opinion too. For a while it was 'Cannonball' that I listened to to death but this one is just as good, if not better.
So, there you have it! Yes, it was a bit of a long one but then I am a bit of a musical fanatic and just wouldnt feel I had done this justice without saying every last word obout each track. That and the fact that I aint wrote a ciao review in a while and may just sugest this as a catagory for the cafe......
